Dinner and Burlesque Show
It’s time to celebrate the 1920s in the 2020s. Mill Woods Seniors Association is hosting a Dinner and Burlesque Show, a shot of warmth in a very cold winter. Enjoy the fashion from the ‘20s and ‘40s and the talented dancers and a delicious dinner.
When: Feb. 28. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner is at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Where: Mill Woods Seniors Association, 2610 Hewes Way, 2nd Floor

Toonie Talks: Chemical Awareness Workshop: Your Environment and Your Health
Part of Westend Seniors Activity Centre’s regular Toonie Talk series, this infosession will take you through some common chemicals, and the safety risks they may pose. It’s the perfect way to learn how to reduce risks in everyday life, and ask some pressing questions about if certain chemicals are hazardous or safe. This is presented by Health Canada’s Environmental Health Program.

Open Study Studio
These sessions are a fantastic and fun way to foster your skills as an artist, under the guidance of a professional. Through these sessions, the instructor will take you through some basic and advanced art skills through individual assistance and demonstrations. Get working on your masterpiece and make some new friends!

Maximize Your Health and Treatment
At this event, a professional pharmacist will take you through the ins and outs of your health, and how to get the most out of it as a mature adult. Hosted by the Southwest Edmonton Seniors Association, it will also touch on the topic of ‘prescription cascade’ — or how doctors sometimes prescribe medicine to help people cope with side effects of other prescription drugs — and how to avoid it. It’s a great way to learn to take charge of your health.
When: Wednesday, March 4, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

40s Vintage Fashion Show and Sunday’s Finest Af ternoon Tea
Clothing in the 1940s was known for its simple elegance, and the 40s Vintage Fashion Show, hosted by South East Edmonton Seniors Association, is a great way to see this era of fashion on display. The event runs concurrently with the Sunday Finest Afternoon Tea — at which tea and dessert will be served — and International Women’s Day, a chance to commemorate all the women, past and present, who have made the world great.

Seniors’ Matinees
Go on a journey of the mind with these matinee plays, aimed at engaging seniors in theatre. Organized as a partnership between Shadow Theatre and ATB financial, these plays are sure to excite some lively conversation, and coffee and tea is available after the shows to chat with fellow audience members and the actors. The next play coming up is Heisenberg, a thoughtful but humorous play about two strangers and a life-changing encounter.
