Honda gives Odyssey a facelift for 2021

- MATTHEW GUY Driving.ca

Honda Canada released pricing information one day ahead of the Odyssey’s Aug. 21 sale date, and prices jumped roughly $1,615 across the board, but the company also dropped the base EX for 2021.

That means the cheapest Odyssey is now $42,805, for an EX-RES, instead of $39,690 for an EX. The range tops out with the Odyssey Touring, at $54,005 MSRP.

The refreshed family van has restyled grille and front bumper fascia, revised front lighting, and new trim under the rear window update its exterior look.

Honda has leveraged existing technology in the Odyssey to create a unique take on the disheartening trend of having to remind harried drivers there’s someone in the back seat. A new Rear Seat Reminder system is standard across the lineup and, for the first time, can also be integrated with the available Cabinwatch child-viewing system. Odyssey vans equipped with this feature and the associated Cabintalk kit can use both systems simultaneously in an effort to remind themselves about the presence of other passengers.

That upgrade will be retroactively applied to similarly equipped 2018 to 2020 model Odyssey vans through an over-the-air update.

Elsewhere in the Odyssey’s interior, a smattering of trim and finish changes are present, along with a new method of folding the second-row seats. According to Honda, the second-row seats on all Odyssey trims now fold flatter, making them easier to remove.
