P{H}ASE Skin products based on a woman’s cycle

- ALEESHA HARRIS aharris@postmedia.com

It’s no secret that skin changes as we age.

But the Canadian brand P{H}ASE Skin is looking to explore and promote education surrounding the idea that your skin changes — depending on the day of the month.

The “clean, cruelty free and leaping bunny-certified” company looks to address the effects of women’s hormones and their menstrual cycles on the skin-aging process through their curated lineup of targeted products.

We caught up with Toronto-based founders Stephanie Sharabura and Kristin Kurian, to learn more.

Q For those who aren’t familiar, what is P{H}ASE?

Kurian: P{H}ASE SKIN is a skin care line formulated to work harmoniously with your hormones — whether you’re in the midst of your period or in the various stages of menopause. We offer the P{H}ASE Kit, a threestep product line that is designed to support your skin through the three phases of your menstrual cycle, as well as a serum designed for perimenopausal and menopausal women. Finally, we also offer a hydrating mist that can be used by all.

Q What makes it different from other skin care brands? Sharabura: Coming from a vitamin C skin care background, I noticed how ineffective using the same product during your monthly cycle was. I spoke to other women who faced the same challenges. There are products that address anti-aging, acne, dull skin and more, but there was no all-in-one product line to solve these and the myriad of other skin issues women face. This is due to the fact that no skin care line protects your skin from the true culprit — your hormones. Instead, products leave women guessing as to what to use when without addressing the fact that what your skin needs changes depending on the time of the month.

Q Where are the products developed/made?

Sharabura: The products are developed and made in Toronto. As Canadians, it was important to us to keep development local.

Q What is the price range for P{H}ASE products? Sharabura: The products range between $22 and $88.

Q Lastly, where can people check them out?

Kurian: Currently, all P{H}ASE Skin products are available exclusively at myphaseskin.com.
