Held by Edmonton55, a local seniors organization, this phone-in or Zoom seminar will help you understand your options should you choose to go this route. It will also help you make a plan for the future, and let you know what to expect.

When: Friday, Oct. 30, 10 to 11 a.m.

Where: From the comfort of your home, over the phone or through Zoom

Info: This is a free educational session. To register, visit edmonton55.com and navigate to its October events page.

LIVE MUSIC WITH MARGARET DROP- IN

Music can soothe the soul, and bring cheer into anyone’s lives, particularly during these trying times. There are not many opportunities these days for sing-a-longs, but thanks to SAGE, you can enjoy one from the comfort of your own home. In this Zoom event, a SAGE volunteer will play her ukulele, and attendees are invited to sing along or just sit back and enjoy.

When: Friday, Nov. 6 and Nov. 20, from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Where: The comfort of your own home, online

Info: These are free drop-in events. Go to mysage.ca/ events and search for the event name for more information on how to sign up. The sessions are run through Zoom, but can be accessed through the phone. For additional information, call 780423-5510.

FREE E- BOOK SERIES – THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO

Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Christo is a harrowing tale of vengeance, hope, and mercy. The book was completed in 1844, and takes place in France, Italy and Mediterranean islands during the period of the Bourbon Restoration. Through the West End Seniors Association, an e-book copy of this tale is now available—now is a great chance to get lost in an old classic of French literature.

When: Whenever you have time

Where: From the comfort of your own home, online

Info: Accessing the e-book is free through the centre’s website, weseniors.ca. Click on the online activities tab at the top of the page, and scroll down to the option that says “Free E-books.” More information about the centre can be found on its website. To reach out, call 780-438-1209.
