Cake Beauty an `indulgent' skin-care collection

Elements like pink packaging and an emphasis on embracing natural ingredients help make Canadian brand Cake Beauty feel like a bright, optimistic offering in the self-care space.

The line recently expanded to include skin-care products, and we caught up with founder Heather Reier to learn more.

Q For those who aren't familiar, what is Cake Beauty?

A Cake Beauty is a naturally luxe, cruelty-free and vegan beauty brand of hair care, body, bath and skin-care products, founded in my kitchen over 15 years ago.

Q How has it evolved since it started?

A We've grown from body, bath and hair care products to launching an eight-product skin-care collection this year. The entry into skin care was inspired by a wave of requests from our community searching for vegan and cruelty-free products that are affordable and conveniently available.

Q Who is the target customer? A Our target customer loves to indulge in naturally luxe, cruelty free and vegan-inspired beauty products.

Q What can you share about the skin-care expansion?

A Indulgent and totally-to-diefor, the collection is carefully curated to simplify your skin care regimen with unique, convenient, time-saving applications and multi-tasking formulas for results you can feel and see.

Q Is there a “hero” product in the line? If so, which one and what makes it so popular?

A Our Gelato Cleansing Balm is not your average cleansing balm with a thick and creamy texture that gently cleanses skin while removing makeup.

Q What's new for the holiday season?

A This holiday season we released two gift sets with our bestselling body and hand creams. The Body Blitz'en set is a four-piece set of each of our body lotion collections, including fan favourite Cake Walk Pretty Foot Cream that leaves your feet feeling soft and lightly scented with sweet mint. The Hand Wonderland holiday set is a trio of sweetly scented hand lotions that nourish, hydrate and smooth dry hands all year round. My favourite is the coconut scent of Desserted Island, it's like a mini vacation to the Caribbean with every use. Both gift sets are available at Shoppers Drug Mart and online on Well.ca.
