Mariners’ Paxton out for season

-

Seattle Mariners lefthander James Paxton will have season-ending Tommy John surgery, manager Scott Servais announced Tuesday. Paxton received a second opinion on his ailing left forearm on Monday. He exited the Mariners' game against the Chicago White Sox on April 6. Paxton grimaced after throwing his 24th pitch of the night and walked off the mound after a short chat with a trainer. Paxton, 32, returned to the Mariners on a one-year, Us$8.5-million contract this year after spending two seasons with the New York Yankees. The native of Ladner, B.C., played for Seattle from 2013-18.
