Woman, 19, faces murder charge

Edmonton police have charged a woman with second-degree murder after the stabbing death of a 43-year-old man in a southwest Edmonton home last Friday.

In a Wednesday news release, police said the assault, near 109 Street and 67 Avenue, was reported at about 5:20 p.m.

Police found and provided first aid to the injured man, who died in hospital.

A Tuesday autopsy by the Edmonton medical examiner determined that Heath Alook died as a result of a stab wound.

Shanay Bigstone, 19, was arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police said Alook and Bigstone knew each other.
