Stones retire Brown Sugar
The Rolling Stones aren't playing the 1971 hit Brown Sugar on tour because its lyrics depict the horrors of slavery — including slaves being sold and beaten and a non-consensual sex encounter between an owner and a female slave. “At the moment I don't want to get into conflicts with all of this s--t,” Keith Richards told The Los Angeles Times regarding criticism of the song. “But I'm hoping that we'll be able to resurrect the babe in her glory somewhere along the track.”
