Cleese to present an evening of exceptionally silly comedy

- JENNY FENIAK

Neither artist had time to do an interview ahead of their shows in Edmonton this week, and neither needed to in order for readers to know who they are and what they're about.

John Cleese is at the Winspear Monday for An Evening of Exceptional Silliness. The actor and comedian first emerged from the Edinburgh Fringe before helping establish one of the world's bestknown comedy troupes, Monty Python, and then getting his screen start with Fawlty Towers, a British series he co-wrote and starred in. It'd be no stretch of the imagination to believe he's had a lifetime of exceptional silliness, and we can be thankful he's still willing to tour and share it with the world at the age of 82.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available at winspearcentre.com.

It would be hard to believe Chris Stapleton is another name that's escaped anyone, at least in North America where country music reigns. Archival photos show Stapleton either on stage or with his arms full of hardware from various award ceremonies. Whether you're a fan of new country or old, Stapleton fits the bill, and Elle King opening at Rogers Place next Wednesday only sweetens the pot.

COVID is still in the air and was responsible for three dates being cancelled last week. Keep an eye on chrisstapleton.com for updates.
