Deschanel, Scott preparing to wed
Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott are making “slow” progress with their wedding plans.
The 44-year-old actress and Scott, 45, have been engaged since August 2023, and although they've started making plans for their big day, Deschanel confirmed that things aren't progressing at a rapid rate.
Asked how their wedding plans are developing, Deschanel told Entertainment Tonight: “Well ... it's slow. But it's going.”
The loved-up couple — who have been together since 2019 — insisted they're not being deliberately coy about their plans.
Instead, Deschanel and Scott are simply unsure of various details, including the venue and the date of their wedding.
The actress — who is best known for playing Jess Day on the hit sitcom New Girl — added: “It all just has to be right.”
Deschanel previously claimed that she and her fiancé are “so compatible.”
The brunette beauty told People: “Our personalities are so compatible. It's just that we're from different worlds. We identify as nerds, we'll have you know.”
Despite this, Deschanel feared that Scott was ghosting her at one point in time.
Scott explained: “We talked or texted every single day, I think, and still have every day since we've met, except for the (time) I went up on a packed trip up into the middle of the Rocky Mountains, where there was no cell service.
“She thought I was just blowing her off because I didn't respond for, what, three days or something.”
Deschanel and Scott celebrated their first anniversary amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The actress took to social media in 2020 to hail the TV star, describing Scott as the most “kind, caring, hilarious, generous, creative, nerdy, handsome and all around incredible human.”
She said on Instagram at the time: “I am so grateful for every smile, kiss, hug, snuggle, laugh, Scrabble game, escape room, breakfast, lunch and dinner we share together.
“Even during the weirdest year for humanity I want a million billion more with you.”
