BLAKBAR ACTION

Get Us Together Music presents a triple bill of experimental local indie bands The Co-Kaynes, Paint Drying and psych rock act Gourd.

The Co-Kaynes are a loud and proud Cree musician threepiece, very fuzzy and dare I say a little gothy? Paint Drying, a nod to Charlie Shackleton's 10-hour protest film, is local visual artist and drummer Tim Rechner's intriguing new punk band. The debut show looks good. And our album reviewer Chad Huculak praised Gourd's loopy, reverbfilled album Vol. 1, calling it “a tantalizing taste of, hopefully, more to come,” so here's your chance to witness that. Whoo! Details: 9 p.m. at Blakbar Tavern (10762 82 Ave.), $15.

ACUA SIGNATURE ARTIST SERIES

May's monthly group show at Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts features three dynamic women artists.

Opening reception starts at 6 p.m. Friday.

Details: Runs through May 31 at ACUA (10554 110 St.), no charge.
