Ludacris, Ja Rule, Metric among KDays Music Fest performers

Edmonton's summer midway will feature some musical star power this year.

KDays organizers Explore Edmonton announced the performers for the 2024 concert lineup on Tuesday, featuring Canadian favourites Metric, Simple Plan and Death From Above 1979, as well as big-name rappers Ja Rule and Ludacris.

The music kicks off July 19 with Amanda Marshall, coming off her first full-length album release in 22 years, Heavy Lifting.

On July 20, Canadian rock mainstays Theory of a Deadman bring the noise to the KDays stage.

Sunday, July 21, sees rapper K'Naan take the stage, on the heels of a Grammy Award for his single Refugee. Canadian alt-rock icons Metric play July 22. This year marks the 20th anniversar­y of their debut Old World Undergroun­d, Where Are You Now?

Meanwhile, a reunited Down With Webster will bring their raprock stylings to the stage on July 23, Simple Plan will play July 24, and DFA 1979 hit the stage July 25.

Hip-hop fans will also get the chance to see two big-name American acts at the festival grounds.

Ja Rule, who rattled off a string of multimilli­on-selling albums in the late '90s and early 2000s and charted 20 top 100 singles, plays July 26.

Ludacris, who has sold 24 million albums worldwide and also featured in the Fast and the Furious film franchise, closes out the festival on July 28.

Country music fans will get their opportunit­y to kick up their heels July 27 with multiplati­num-selling country group High Valley.

All shows are free with gate admission to KDays, but there are opportunit­ies to purchase upgraded access.

The Front and Centre Fan Zone gives attendees front-row access, access to private bars and restrooms, and also includes general admission to the fairground­s.

The KDays Music Lounge, which includes general admission to the fairground­s, offers a VIP experience with an elevated viewing platform, catered food and a private cash bar.
