De­tails re­leased on Rcmp-in­volved shoot­ing

GRANDE PRAIRIE — Al­berta’s po­lice watch­dog says a Moun­tie shot a man on Tues­day in Grande Prairie dur­ing an ex­change of gun­fire with two sus­pects af­ter a pickup rammed an RCMP cruiser.

No po­lice of­fi­cers were hurt.

Al­berta Se­ri­ous In­ci­dent Re­sponse Team (ASIRT) in­ves­ti­ga­tors say the 21-yearold sus­pect who was shot was taken to hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries.

The other sus­pect, who is 29, was ar­rested.

Two sawed-off long-bar­relled firearms were re­cov­ered.

Team in­ves­ti­ga­tors say they will fo­cus on the cir­cum­stances of the of­fi­cer-in­volved shoot­ing and whether po­lice con­duct was law­ful.

The team in­ves­ti­gates when po­lice are in­volved in the se­ri­ous in­jury or death to any per­son, as well as al­le­ga­tions of po­lice mis­con­duct.
