CLAPP YOUR HANDS
atlanta — after a full season as a bigleague coach, Stubby clapp is bullish on what he sees with the St. Louis cardinals.
In fact, the canadian baseball legend leaves you with the impression the team is not only one on the rise, but a group that is capable of doing some serious damage this fall.
“Persistence and preparation and execution, that’s the story of the year with these guys,” clapp sad. “there’s been a consistency in trying to get better every day. these guys have developed some resiliency. It’s a lot of fun to watch. It’s a lot of fun to listen to them.”
clapp has been able to tap into his time as manager of the cards’ triple-a affiliate in Memphis to establish himself in the bigs. “It’s huge in relationships,” clapp said. “a lot of these guys I’ve had the opportunity to grow up with in those couple of years in Memphis so understanding their attitudes and how they think helped me in my first year in the big leagues in how to approach them and how to talk shop with them. relationships that I’ve already built definitely makes it a lot easier.”
