‘I wanted revenge’

Debbie Harry thanks ex for sticking by her after rape

Edmonton Sun - - SHOWBIZ -

debbie Harry’s bandmate and ex-lover helped her come to terms and save her sanity after she was sexually assaulted at knifepoint.

the blondie singer details the rape in her new memoir Face It, and admits she would have lost her mind if it wasn’t for her then-boyfriend, chris Stein, who was tied up by the intruder.

“He poked round searching for anything worth anything,” she recalls in the book.

“He piled up the guitars and chris’ camera and then he untied my hands and told me to take off my pants.”

the 74-year-old singer tells Good Morning America her “great friend and partner” helped her cope with the angry feelings she had after the rape.

“He helped me put it into proportion,” she says. “believe me, I felt anger, frustration, I wanted revenge... For whatever reason, my sanity took over and said, ‘you can’t carry around this kind of anger and sense of frustration.’ ”
