Chop­per helps nab graf­fiti tag­gers

Two men spot­ted scal­ing fence at Ross­dale plant be­fore hid­ing in bushes

a pair of graf­fiti tag­gers were ar­rested over the week­end af­ter ed­mon­ton po­lice de­ployed air 1 to help lo­cate the sus­pects.

ed­mon­ton po­lice say down­town of­fi­cers were re­spond­ing to a graf­fiti com­plaint at 4 a.m. on sat­ur­day at the ross­dale Water treat­ment Plant when two men were spot­ted scal­ing a nearby fence.

Po­lice said the pair ig­nored of­fi­cers’ in­struc­tions to stop, and then fled the area head­ing east­bound on a foot path be­fore hid­ing in nearby bushes.

air 1 was dis­patched to help of­fi­cers lo­cate the sus­pects’ hid­ing spot and take them into cus­tody. the two men are al­leged to have tagged the south wall of the pump house and se­cu­rity light­ing at the ross­dale plant.

“busi­ness own­ers and cit­i­zens alike have had enough," said sgt. david chow, in a tues­day news re­lease. "It’s cost­ing busi­ness pro­pri­etors and tax­pay­ers hun­dreds of thou­sands of dol­lars each year to re­ha­bil­i­tate their prop­er­ties.”

Keaton James bjork­lund, 23, and eric el­li­son Hatcher, 22, have been charged with one count of mis­chief un­der $5,000.
