Typhoon impacts rugby, F1 race
HONG KONG — With a super typhoon bearing down on Japan, Rugby World Cup organizers on Thursday cancelled two matches for the first time.
Saturday’s games between New Zealand and Italy in Toyota City and between England and France in Yokohama were cancelled because of safety concerns.
Meanwhile, organizers of Japan’s Formula One Grand Prix have cancelled all practice and qualifying sessions scheduled for Saturday. Sunday’s race is still set to go on.
