Hamilton moves on
Steve Hamilton is starting his second year as calgary Hitmen head coach but you don’t just wipe away a large chunk of your hockey life with the edmonton Oil Kings.
“Last year was an emotional year for a lot of reasons … I spent eight years there and to play them in the playoffs, too,” said Hamilton, who was derek Laxdal’s right-hand man for four years until Laxdal moved on to coach dallas Stars AHL farm team and Hamilton took over for four more as head man.
He was let go in May, 2018 and quickly caught on with the Hitmen.
“I had eight great years with the Oil Kings. I think everyone’s moved on and is in a good place.”
“I’m comfortable with where I’m at. the family’s doing really good, my wife (Nancy) is teaching with calgary public … we (they have three kids) all landed on our feet,” said Hamilton, 46.
