She played the Bond Girl who inspired the phrase “Shaken not stirred,” but in reality, Eva Green is awful at cocktail parties. “I’m kind of the ugly duckling in the corner,” confesses the French actress. “I mean, I like cocktails, but I don’t like the chit-chat!”

Instead of hiding behind a potted plant, the 34-year-old would rather be at home with close friends—or sipping spirits with famous French writers. “I think it would have been romantic to drink absinthe with Rimbaud,” she says with a laugh. “We could have read poetry at the same time!”

Green admits total ignorance when it comes to mixing drinks, despite being the muse for the playful 2015 Campari calendar. But this is the year she’s upping her party game. “When I did the shoot, I really discovered the art of classic cocktails,” says Green. “I actually just bought a book on how to get started. I’m learning!”

And what might she whip up for friends over the holidays? “The Negroni, because it reminds me of my mom.”
