Plan ahead—and then go far away—to get the most happiness out of your travels. Several recent studies suggest that the anticipation of a trip (all those fantastical expectations) can actually generate more pleasure than the holiday itself. It also turns out that the farther away from home you go (and the more frequently), the happier you may feel—at least, according to your tweets (so says an analysis of language and geotags used on Twitter).
