Celebs like Jourdan Dunn, Cate Blanchett, Margot Robbie, Taylor Swift and Kerry Washington all love the long bob, or “lob.” Danilo, celebrity hairstylist and global ambassador for Pantene, analyzes the hairstyle’s enduring appeal: “The lob is having a hair spa moment—all that ombré and flatironing—and your hair looks healthy again. The simplicity of the lob is also very attractive. It relays a certain level of confidence. It’s practical; you can wear it completely straight or let it out or set it. It has that versatility. You can part it on the side or in the centre. Your hair can be a crazy mess, but with that blunt line, it looks seamless. It echoes ‘good’ all the time. My favourite length for a lob is the collarbone—what I call ‘1970s glamour’— because it’s more versatile. You can put it up in a knot or you can even add hair if you want to go that route. It’s easy. It makes sense. Why not have a trend where hair is pretty again?”
