IN THE MOMENT

I had a little tête-à-tête with Karl Lagerfeld when he was in Toronto for the launch of the Art Shoppe Condos + Lofts project. (He’s designing the lobbies.) Karl is a forward-thinking innovator who isn’t interested in revisiting the past. “You have to like the present,” he once said. “If not, your life becomes second-hand, if you think it was better before. Or that it will be better in the future.” That said, he’s not above a little strategic historical sampling.

Case in point: the iconic two-toned Chanel pumps he reintroduced for fall/winter 2015.
