HANA JAMES
Co-founder and director of retail, Greenhouse Juice
If Hana James’ effervescent personality is any indication of the benefits of juicing, we’re stocking up, stat. The Torontonian opened Greenhouse Juice in 2014 with Anthony Green plus five partners who work behind the scenes in New York and Los Angeles. Since its launch, the juicery has opened five more locations across the city, quickly becoming the go-to for a pick-me-up. When James isn’t serving up organic cold-pressed elixirs behind the counter, she’s concocting new recipes (the superfood-packed smoothies are her brainchild) and working with a holistic nutritionist to ensure that everything on the menu is as good for you as it tastes. While the Greenhouse Juice team has a nocompromise motto when it comes to sustainability (glass bottles are a must) and produce (it’s always 100-percent organic), James is quick to point out that they don’t take themselves too seriously. “We like to call ourselves ‘recreational juicers,’” she says.
