The centrepiece of your revel (bloodshed-free, of course) should be a steaming carafe of Glühwein. This version of the traditional German holiday drink was created last winter by Nick Kennedy at Toronto’s Civil Liberties for all the cold people who streamed into the bar. He promises a depth of spicy flavour redolent of a “chalet in the French Alps.” His hot tip for this bone-warming brew? “Adapt it to suit your taste: Add more orange zest or less cinnamon—extra brandy is always fun!” #allmenmustwine
