Truly trending?

I took your August 2016 issue to the cottage with me and passed it around to my family. I thought your fall/ winter 2016 fashion trend report [“Top 20”] was really cool, but my parents and some aunts and uncles were dumbfounded with No. 8, the oversized trend. “Is this serious?” they asked of the megashoulder pads and looks that even you described as “caricatures.” I don’t know if we’ll really see anything quite that extreme on the streets. But I can say the trend was alive and well on our “runway” dock this summer. My aunts dressed up my six-year-old cousin in all his dad’s clothes for an impromptu fashion show. Whether the trend will last into next season remains to be seen. But I have a feeling I’m probably never going to hear or see the end of it at the cottage.
