Coco Chanel once said that the best things in life are free, but she also wisely noted that “the second-best things are very, very expensive.” Some of these very, very best things can now be found at the newly renovated Chanel boutique in Vancouver. Located in the downtown Holt Renfrew store, this 470-square-metre luxurious space carries shoes, handbags and Karl’s ready-to-wear designs. It’s also the first boutique in Canada to showcase pieces from the house’s watch and fine-jewellery collections. The two pieces that drew the most envious attention at the opening in June were the $1.2-million Pétales de Camélia diamond necklace and the $3-million Camélia Empierré— a stunner with its 12 rubies surrounded by pink and brown round-cut diamonds.
