INESSA FRANTOWSKI ON THE HUNT FOR FUNNY ROLES.
In 2008, Inessa Frantowski, 36, won a Gemini Award for her work on the Showcase comedy series Cock’d Gunns. The next day, she went back to her waitressing shift at the Keg in Toronto. Since moving to L.A. three years ago, Frantowski has starred in commercials and worked on the Amber Rose Slut Walk. “There’s more Web stuff, like Funny or Die or College Humor; surviving here is easier because there’s a lot of stuff to fill in the gaps,” she says. “Toronto was a great place to bust my chops, and I would still love to work in Canada, but if you’re a big dreamer, it seems like the potential to have your dreams realized here is greater.” Frantowski had 10 years of experience as a performer before moving to L.A. “You really start over with your connections, casting directors, people who shoot videos for you—even just people who think you’re funny. But you get to go through the fun process of people discovering you all over again.”
