Tom Odell has just released a critically acclaimed album, Wrong Crowd, but all anyone ever asks him about is what he does before he goes onstage. “It’s the most common question, by far,” said the Brit ruefully when we photographed him on a recent stop in Toronto (where he played an intimate set at Saks Fifth Avenue in the CF Toronto Eaton Centre). “I think they want me to say I lay down a rug and chant ‘white elephant’ six times and look for the North Star and do six claps toward it.
