WINTER IS COMING

-

Puffer jackets aren’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future—in fact, there are now more options than ever. Biannual is a new cold-weather outerwear brand and the brainchild of Toronto-based creative director Dani Roche. The line launched this season with eight styles, including oversized parkas in standout hues and prints like salmon-pink-and-white camo. “Outerwear has always comprised a huge part of my wardrobe,” says Roche. “Up until now, my statement coats offered little warmth or function.” Biannual’s cruelty-free coats use a material called Supremeloft, made of polyester clusters and recycled cashmere fibres, which is lighter than down and naturally water-resistant. Most of the jackets are reversible or feature zip-off sleeve and collar details. Roche also set out to create a brand that’s unisex. “People are becoming more open-minded and receptive to dismantling conventions,” she says. “I saw an opportunity to create an inclusive brand.” Count us in.
