“Matte nail polish can look streaky if it isn’t applied carefully. Using a matte topcoat instead is definitely the best way to go. You only need one bottle to make any colour of Shellac polish matte. Plus, a topcoat will provide you with more longevity. All nail colours look great with matte; metallics are my favourites, as they look like velvet. Nude is a great option if you’re in for a subdued look, but be careful of matte over lighter shades—you may find that it discolours faster than a glossy top. Wipe your nails with a towel and isopropyl alcohol after applying lotions or oils to clean away residue and keep your mani looking matte.”
