ELLE (Canada) - - Finale -

THE FASHION CYCLE can often feel like a high-speed chase for the next big thing. At Viktor & Rolf’s 25th-anniversary show during Paris Haute Couture Week, designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, known for their flair for the avant-garde, showcased clothing that demanded a considered and thoughtful second look. The irreverent Dutch duo put on a theatrical retrospective dubbed a “collection of memories,” treating the crowd to a visual medley of past hits. There was the chiffon gown with giant holes from spring/summer 2010 and the (literal) statement-making coat with a three-dimensional “NO” sculpted across the chest from fall/ winter 2008. Every piece was rendered in white—suggesting a fresh start following such a major milestone.
