FINALE
THE INVITATION TO Off-White spring/summer 2019 was a replica of an athlete’s bib, a teaser for a stylish spectacle that would touch on themes of strength, functionality and speed. Held in Paris in a garage space with a three-lane concrete track, the show included both supermodels and elite athletes in a range of sleek sport-infused pieces, such as billowy shirtdresses layered over Nike performance leggings and sports bras, relaxed suiting in muted tones and neon-snakeskin-print biker jackets and trousers. The intersection of inclusivity, streetwear and luxury is where creative director Virgil Abloh excels. As model of the moment Adut Akech closed the show in a ruffled gown dipped in acidic chartreuse, the message was clear: At Off-White, life is not a marathon—it’s a record-breaking sprint.
