TAKE IN Far from the sloppy tourist hordes, you’ll find my favourite spot in the city: the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden in City Park. The resplendent two-hectare outdoor gallery (admission is free) is doubling in size this May with 25 new sculptures. Bonus: It’s located next door to the New Orleans Museum of Art, so you can spend an entire morning getting your culture fix.

WINDOW SHOP Royal Street in the French Quarter is overflowing with galleries, antique shops and boutiques. (Bambi DeVille’s vintage shop is a must-browse.) Word to the wise: The closer you get to Canal Street, the more high-end the wares.
