Festive flying

Happy holidays from the flight deck! At this busy time of year, there’s a profusion of teams working to get you airborne so you can reconnect with friends and family – whether you’re heading home or jetting off to a far-flung destination. Many airline staff find juggling work and family challenging during the holidays. Some hotels lay on dinners and other comforts for aircrew to alleviate the situation. I’ve stayed in some great spots over the holidays, but I’ve also checked in to hotels where we were the only guests. However, it’s certainly rewarding to see the elated faces and hugs of friends and relatives as they greet one another in the arrivals area.
