- BARACK OBAMA BY JOSIAH HUGHES

OBAMAS AND CHILL

While the current president made his name in reality TV and Home Alone cameos, his predecessor is taking a more traditional route. Barack and Michelle Obama are entering the world of content creation with a massive new Netflix deal. Potential content from the duo includes scripted and unscripted series, documentaries and features. Fingers crossed we see Barack get a Queer Eye makeover.

UNDEAD AGAIN

When it dropped in 2009, Zombieland stockpiled money at the box office. Since then, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been busy with the Deadpool movies, while actors Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin have been busy with everything else. But Zombieland 2 is hopefully set for the film’s 10th anniversary next year. Speaking to Vulture, Wernick said, “We are sitting on information that we can’t entirely share at this moment, but we can say we think fans who have been hoping for a Zombieland 2, that we will grant their wish very, very soon.”

LOGACY

Catherine Coulson, best known for her role as the Log Lady in Twin Peaks, passed away in 2015, but her legacy will live on in the form of a new documentary called I Know Catherine, the Log Lady. The film is being directed by Richard Green (who also starred in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive), and is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

OH NO, NOÉ

Black Panther is universally revered as one of the best Marvel entries yet, pairing eyepopping visuals, exciting action sequences and a forward-thinking soundtrack. More importantly, it injects some much-needed diversity into the world of the Avengers. Still, for French provocateur Gaspar Noé, none of that is enough. Speaking with Variety, he said he hated the blockbuster. “I tried Black Panther. I escaped from the cinema after 20 minutes,” he said. “I hated the R&B music. The music was so bad that I had to escape.”

COSPLAY DOESN’T PAY

Planning to see Deadpool 2 in costume? Brush up on your local laws. Some Swiss fans were arrested for wearing Deadpool costumes in public. In the city of Lugano, Alessandro and Christian headed out in full Deadpool garb; Christian took things further, wearing his mask on transit, thus violating Swiss laws about covering one’s face in public. Two arrests and some hefty fines later, the pair learned their lesson.
