BRUCE HAACK
“The Preservation Tapes” TELEPHONE EXPLOSION
August 10. In 2016, while working on the reissue of The Electric Lucifer, 213 reel-to-reel tapes containing all of Bruce Haack’s recorded music was discovered. All of the chosen material on Preservation Tapes is unreleased, has only been heard by a handful of people and showcases a relatively unknown period in Bruce’s musical career where Bruce was recording for Sparrow Records ( who billed themselves as “America’s best Christian music record label”). Bruce’s signature blend of funky, vocoderheavy primitive electronics are featured across the album’s 10 previously unheard tracks, including an original excerpt of proto hip-hop classic “Party Machine”. The Bruce Haack archive is now resting in the Provincial Archives of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Preservation Tapes will be available on August 10th on LP with 12-page booklet, and across all digital platforms.
