EVOKEN

“Hypnagogia” PROFOUND LORE

Exclaim! - - TABLE OF CONTENTS -

November 9. Known as one of the founding fathers of American death / funeral doom, New Jersey’s Evoken have been a long-standing pillar of the scene during their 25 year pillage. Their new fulllength album Hypnagogia is the band’s sixth album, their first in six years since the landmark Atra Mors, and is a towering monolith that develops and redefines the band’s sound, strengthening their position within the metal hierarchy. A multitude of varying and flourishing emotions exists herein, pushing their trademark penchant for grandiose melodicism and pulverizing heaviness into the band’s most intense, compelling, and soul crushing experiences yet— one of euphoria, desperation, and hopelessness.
