FIELD DAY

Nathan Fielder changed television with his unbelievable comedy docuseries Nathan for You, and while that show has ended, he’s got big plans. The Vancouver native has signed a one-year overall deal with HBO where he’s producing the new show, How To… with John Wilson, while also prepping a comedy pilot starring himself. Details for the latter are still under wraps, but more Nathan for us is never a bad thing.

BLACKFACE BLACKLIST

Sarah Silverman has always taken her comedy right to the edge, but a time she crossed the line resulted in some lost work. In a new interview on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Silverman revealed that she lost out on an unnamed film project because of a sketch where she wore blackface — in an episode explicitly about race relations — on her Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program in 2007.

FOREVER HOME ALONE

Disney recently announced plans to reboot the Home Alone franchise, and it’s safe to say that Macauley Culkin won’t be involved. After all, his pitch for the reboot was a little too, um, realistic. On his Twitter account, the original Kevin McAllister shared an image with the caption “This is what an updated Home Alone will actually look like,” and he’s seen eating take out while clutching his bare gut and using his laptop on a messy couch. Being an adult is really depressing.

DEEPFAKES

The future is more terrifying than any of us could’ve ever imagined, as evidenced by a series of viral (and downright freaky) deepfake videos involving celebrities. User Dr. Fakenstein edited the opening credits of Full House to showcase Nick Offerman in place of every character, then user Ctrl Shift Face edited a collection of Bill Hader impressions that show the comedian seamlessly morph into the people he’s impersonating. It’s all fun and creepy games for now, but we’re already dreading the day that deepfakes take over a news cycle.

GETTING THE BARD HARD

Aside from her tabloid omnipresence, Bella Thorne is mostly known for her role in Disney’s Shake It Up. If she hasn’t pivoted to adult work enough just yet, that will change with the arrival of her PornHub directorial debut. The naughty streaming service has financed Thorne’s big break as helmer, and her work is decidedly classy. Called Her & Him, the film is a modern (and horny) take on Romeo & Juliet.
