For Me?

- Words by Daniel Field Daniel Field Surrey, BC KEVIN ERDVIG

Far into May, I spent a weekend camping with other Christians in a provincial park. Though it seemed harmless at the start, signs of oncoming darkness began in the car. A fellow camper annoyed everyone with loud barnyard sounds when we passed a farm. From my mouth slipped sharp words designed to make the journey feel not as far. Each day he acted without charm and I ceaselessly left him verbally scarred, Forgetting the Christian virtue of “love does no harm.”

By the end of the weekend’s emotional harm he cried, “Why are you so harsh?” Everybody watching, who had laughed at his attempts to be a cringeworthy star, stood silent, some wondering with alarm,

How could we as Christians so disregard another’s heart?
