RENAMED

The Mennonite Central Committee’s advocacy department has been restructur­ed and is now known as the Peace & Justice Office after 45 years of being known as the Ottawa Office. The department is now decentrali­zed with staff across the country, and has now also been merged with existing programs on restorativ­e justice, Indigenous neighbours, and migration and resettleme­nt. It now describes itself as “Anabaptist advocacy for peace, justice and human dignity.”

NOMINATED

Films nominated as best feature at the fifth annual Canadian Internatio­nal Faith & Family Film Festival include: Road to the Lemon Grove, Sabina: Tortured for Christ, A Father’s Fight, Angel, Break Every Chain, The Deliveranc­e of Amy Stronghold, The Bamboo Hat and Issues of the Heart. The winner in this and other categories such as best short, music video, screenplay, animation, family film, director and actor will be announced at www. Cifflix.com. A lifetime achievemen­t award will be given to Colm Feore, and a faith achievemen­t award to Dallas Jenkins. Events are live online Sept. 17–18 and remain online until Oct. 15.

SHORTLISTE­D

Faith Today articles were shortliste­d 18 times in this year’s Word Awards, a national contest. Winners will be announced Sept. 25 at www.TheWordGui­ld. com. Those in the running include columnists Carolyn Arends, David Guretzki and Bruce Clemenger. Those listed in multiple categories include Meagan Gillmore, Katharine

Hayhoe, Sherman Lau, Larry Worthen and Tim Huff.

RETIRING

Canon Judy Rois as executive director of the Anglican Foundation of Canada, effective October 2021. She held the role since 2011. The foundation helps maintain church infrastruc­ture, and supports innovative projects for mission and ministry across the country. Rois previously served as a priest in the Anglican

Diocese of Toronto for 26 years.

RESTRUCTUR­ED

Canadian supporters of Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM) Canada need to reaffirm their desire to receive communicat­ions from the organizati­on. CVM Canada, directed by Dr. Debbie Hoffele of Fonthill, Ont., is a non profit ministry that partners with the Great Commission Foundation for charitable purposes. CVM USA, part of CRISTA Ministries since 1978, became an independen­t ministry July 1.
