Feeling accountability to God linked with mental health
Researchers from Baylor University, Westmont College and Hope College have explored the connection between a feeling of accountability to God and psychological well-being. Their 2022 study, a new analysis of survey data of 1,251 Americans from 2017, found those who have a sense of accountability and dependence on God exhibited higher levels in three of the four psychological measures of well-being – mattering to others, dignity and meaning in life. The fourth metric, happiness, was also higher when researchers took into account that those who felt accountable to God were more likely to participate in other religious activities. The findings were even stronger among those who pray more frequently. WWW.BAYLOR.EDU
