What are you loving right now?

-

1 “I’m reading The Revenant and love being transported to worlds where characters face the impossible and through sheer will come through the other side.”

1. Carpenter-turned-lensman FRANCISCO GARCIA worked his shutter overtime for “Blue Ray” (page 78). He got into the biz shooting his friends’ bands, but before long his work made its way into Teen Vogue, Nylon and campaigns for clients like Target. One of his most special encounters on a job was when he photographed designer Jean Paul Gaultier. “He is such a kind man and so giving. I’ll never forget that.”

2 “TV show: Master of None; Peaches’ video for ‘Rub’; Music: Laurie Anderson, Patrick Cowley and everything released by Buda Musique label.”

2. When not at her day job as online editor for Glow, SAMRA HABIB fills her time capturing moments, most recently with her internationally shown queer Muslims photo project. “Being queer and Muslim often leads me to unique creative opportunities where I’m asked to share an insider’s point of view.” For February, Habib writes about how Muslims are tapping into online dating in “Twist of Faith” (page 62).

3 “I’m really loving Kypris Antioxidant Dew. It’s jampacked with nourishing ingredients. Also, anything by Leaves of Trees.”

3. Makeup whiz SIMONE OTIS has been on set for publications like Vogue and German Harper’s Bazaar. For this issue, she teamed up with FASHION on two stories: “Low Pro” (page 66), with model Janice Alida (“She’s a very emotive model who gives a lot”), as well as the beauty feature, “Blue Ray” (page 78). “It’s always so much fun to do a beauty story,” she says. “You get to try out some great looks you might not otherwise try.”

4 “Hard sun and dark skin.”

4. Dallas-born shooter JAMES MACARI now calls New York home, but he has sunshine on the mind, with his career highlights being “travelling the world and seeing a new sunset every day.” Macari, who trained under fashion photography greats Patrick Demarchelier and Richard Avedon, lets his own talent shine bright in “Queen of Hearts” (page 74), for which he captured cover star Natalie Dormer.
