Three crafters that have partnered with fashion.
A U.K.-based artist who works in ceramics, sculpture, furniture, print, painting and textiles, Giles Round collaborated with J.W. Anderson on a 2016 exhibition called Ettore. Sorry! For the show, Round produced 12 ceramic phallic vases, a motif that was carried over into a series of J.W. Anderson patches and key rings.
THE NEW CRAFTSMEN
The New Craftsmen is a collective in London that curates, commissions and sells unique contemporary objects rooted in craftsmanship. In 2016, it partnered with Burberry on Makers House, a pop-up that showcased original works from makers while telling the story of the creative process in that season's Burberry collection.
A self-taught artist who was discovered by photographer Nick Knight on Instagram, Londonbased Unskilled Worker (real name: Helen Downie) collaborated with Gucci on a capsule collection last year. Her colourful portraits inspired by the brand were featured on readyto-wear, shoes, bags and accessories.
