The ethereal setting for this month’s cover was an ice cave on a mountaintop near Whistler, B.C. It was only fitting that we shot Maartje Verhoef wearing a “puffer nun” cape in an area of the cave known as “the Cathedral.” Designer Pierpaolo Piccioli told FASHION that his cape, which he designed for the Moncler Genius project, was inspired by “the purity and shapes of the madonnas” from the Italian Renaissance. (Read more about the project on page 84.) ON THE COVER Maartje Verhoef wears a cape, $4,670, a dress, $3,175, and gloves, $1,965, Moncler 1 Pierpaolo Piccioli. Photography, Owen Bruce.
