2019 is the year of happiness— or at least we hope it is. And what brings more joy than a glittery gold handbag?

From a pop-culture standpoint, 2018 kicked off with the Golden Globe Awards in January when actresses and activists banded together in black evening dresses to show their support for the #MeToo movement. It’s been a year of shocking revelations, but it was also filled with powerful, game-changing moments. On that note, it’s time for a little happiness in 2019. If there’s one designer who knows how to spread positive vibes, it’s Brett Heyman. Case in point: this decidedly upbeat Oval Bag in “Gold Confetti.” It’s made of hand-poured acrylic and includes something Heyman calls “a kiss-lock closure.” There’s a retro yearning to the Edie Parker aesthetic, but since the brand is named for Heyman’s daughter, it’s likely more about the future. “Life is serious,” says Heyman. “We need more joy these days.”
