A STAR IS BORN
Thierry Mugler says that as a boy, he felt like a misfit. He was lonely and unhappy and would often run away from home. “I would spend my night on a bench looking up at the stars,” he recalls. “I would watch the skies and look for the blue star and know that I had to hold on.” It was a prophetic observation. When Angel debuted in 1992, the blue star-shaped bottle went on to become as iconic as the scent. The keepsake bottle has been reimagined over the years, but this was the original design. At the time, Mugler felt the glass flacon was too beautiful to throw away so he launched a refillable service called The Thierry Mugler Source. (Alien and Aura Mugler are also now refillable.) It marked another “first” in the fragrance world. Today, a bottle of Angel is refilled every 10 seconds somewhere in the galaxy.
