The mercury is on the rise and so is our thirst for a cold one— time for a refresher on styles, temperatures, glasses, how to pour and best food matches—plus new picks for 2018.

It’s an exciting time to be a beer drinker in Canada. We have more than 775 breweries scattered across the country, with more than 240 of those breweries right here in Ontario. Plus, don’t forget all the wonderful imports coming in from Europe and our neighbours to the south. Beer sections are constantly growing (the LCBO has a huge selection—including the most craft beers in Ontario), but all this variety makes it tricky to know what to buy and how to serve it. That’s why we’re going back to beer basics.

Learn the perfect, four-step pour, which beer style is the food-friendliest, the best serving temperatures for every style, the ideal glass, how to whip up a beer cocktail, and which beers you need to stock in your fridge all summer long.

Read on for a little refresher on how to treat the beers in your life.
