Summer should be easy.

With that in mind, we’ve got a plan to keep you fed. You’ll probably fire up the grill as often as you can, and for the most part you’ll stick to the triedand-true—steaks, burgers, beer-can chicken, simple fire-kissed veggies, but it can all feel a bit same-old after a while.

Breathe new life into your standbys with some fresh ideas— sturdy salads to keep in the fridge (and healthy ones at that), a sensational new rub, a few enticing sauces and dips that will make your burgers, sandwiches and raw veg thrilling again. With all of summer’s abundance, you should make some pickles but not can them because that’s too much work—eat them until they’re gone, then make more. We’ve got a couple of dead-simple fruit salads, too, the sorts that make you new friends. And butter! Three awesome-good ones to let melt slowly over your favourite foods, to turn up the volume and drown out the boring.

Consider these your new summer essentials, give them a go and get out of the kitchen as fast as you can.
