Duchesse de Bourgogne

Here’s another Flanders Red Ale (LCBO 492769, 330 mL, $3.00) blending younger and barrel-aged beers. A touch sweeter and denser than the Rodenbach, it shows a core of rich roasted malts and sweet-and-sour cherry flavours with a subtle edge of hoppy bitterness. The cherry-lime sweet-sour chutney on our chicken burger is almost a mirror image of the ale’s own flavour intensity.
