HARISSA ROASTED SWEET POTATO & CARROT SOUP

Harissa, a spicy North African pepper paste, goes a long way in boosting the flavour of so many dishes. Look for tubes or jars of harissa at the supermarke­t, either with the spices or condiments. The tubes tend to have more of a raw, stronger flavour than the jars do. For a change of the soup’s taste, simply sub either Indian or Thai red curry paste for the harissa. For more of a main meal, leftover cooked chicken or tofu could be added.
